Design Inspiration

Four years ago, the CYBERBOARD represented the pinnacle of retro-futurism, a design that seemed almost impossible to surpass. Yet, one day, while immersed in Kavinsky's NightCall, our designer felt an undeniable spark of inspiration — a moment of creative resurgence.

Synthwave, a genre rooted in retro-futurism, blends both a musical movement and a distinctive visual aesthetic. Drawing from this fusion, we crafted a dynamic, four-sided RGB dot matrix display, delivering an immersive, psychedelic electronic experience.

Built on a strong design foundation, it also evokes a strong resemblance to Dieter Rams' approach.

The result is a design that is both contradictory and harmonious — a fusion of 21st-century craftsmanship, '80s music, and '60s forms.

RGB on, it's cyberpunk

When you turn on the RGB, it reveals a stunning four-dimensional LED matrix effect like no other — intense, dynamic lighting that transports you straight into a cyberpunk future.

RGB off, it's all class

When the RGB is off, the keyboard unveils a retro design that captures the minimalist aesthetic and structural integrity of the late 1980s.

Craftsmanship

Bold 4-sided RGB: 389 LEDs, 3120 precision CNC-drilled holes

Achieving that retro aesthetic requires cutting-edge, modern technology.

To bring it to life, we meticulously drill 3,120 holes into the keyboard using precision CNC machining — a highly intricate and exact process.

We’ve integrated 389 LEDs into the board — 270 on the front, 70 on the three sides, and 89 in-switch LEDs.

This is a crazy challenge, not just in design, but also in electronic engineering.

AM's Quality Standards

Proven, trusted, and highly regarded.

Drawing inspiration from Dieter Rams, the premium aluminum alloy weight at the bottom of the keyboard is impossible to overlook.

389 LEDs

The New RGB King?

Surpassing CYBERBOARD's single-face RGB matrix, the NEON 80's 389 LEDs across four dimensions can be fully synced to unleash DIY psychedelic lighting effects, pushing the boundaries of visual customization.

A total of 230 LEDs power the customizable front-facing matrix display.

70 LEDs, paired with a meticulously optimized light guide structure, illuminate the three vertical surfaces. The software algorithm automatically syncs the color and dynamic effects between the front and the vertical surfaces, creating a seamless visual flow.

89 customizable in-switch LEDs can also be fully synced with the RGB matrix, ensuring the entire keyboard functions as a unified system, conveying a cohesive and dynamic lighting theme.

Wired mode only

With 389 LEDs, the power consumption can reach up to 12W. Even with two 5000mAh batteries, it wouldn't be able to provide a satisfactory battery life.

Removing the batteries was a necessary decision. To fully unleash its RGB potential, the keyboard requires an advanced motherboard with USB 3.0 support and a strong, reliable power supply.

Neon 80 features 10 levels of brightness, allowing you to increase the intensity if your power supply is strong enough.

In the event of a power shortage, the software will automatically disable the LEDs to secure the core functionality of the board — typing. You can gradually adjust the brightness to test the maximum level your device's power supply can support.

We will also include a 1.2-meter silicone cable for your convenience.

Typing experience

By removing the batteries and wireless charging module, we were able to achieve a 18.5mm front height with a 7-degree typing angle, providing a more comfortable and ergonomic experience for both daily use and gaming.

Despite all the challenges we faced with the Neon 80, we managed to incorporate the adjustable leaf spring mount, just like on all our other keyboards. After all, the typing experience is something we refuse to compromise on.

Three-stage adjustable leaf spring mount will be able to provide 12 different typing configurations, allowing users to fine-tune their typing experience to their exact liking, no matter hard or soft.

8-layer custom internals and Icy Silver Pro V2 Switch

Custom internals, refined through five generations of iteration, are paired with Ice Silver Pro V2 switches for an exceptional typing experience.

With an actuation force of 37gf and a bottom-out force of 45gf, the Ice Silver Pro provides a light and smooth typing feel, while managing a crisp and powerful rebound.

Compared to V1, known for its outstanding RGB, smoothness, and sound profile, we’ve upgraded to transparent PA12 nylon and a smooth Y3.4 stem. This combination results in a slightly muffled sound, giving the Ice Silver Pro V2 an even richer, thockier sound profile.

Icy Silver Pro V2 Switch

Highly transparent. Rich, thocky sound.

White / Gold FR4 plate

Balanced in softness and firmness.

PORON foam

Reduce the cavity between the plate and the PCB.

Bottom adjustment pad (*2)

Adjust the sinking space of the internals.

Ixpe 8 switch pad

More focused typing sound.

Custom PET film

Block out noise for a purer typing sound.

1.2mm hotswap PCB

With cut-outs. RGB supported.

Custom PCB foam

Precise cutouts, minimizing interference.

Typing Sound

QMK supported

Neon 80 will be the first AM keyboard that supports QMK and VIAL.

We've developed an enhanced version of the device center based on VIAL — introducing the AM Vialite.

It's a faster, cleaner, and more user-friendly device center, built with the latest cross-platform frameworks to ensure optimal performance on both Windows and Mac.
